Description automatically generated features Alternative text (Alt text) which is an essential web accessibility tool. It describes the appearance or function of an image on a webpage to be read aloud by a screen reader, or is displayed in place of an image if it fails to load. Its best format is that which is sufficiently accurate and descriptive, and should be added to all online images wherever possible.

 

It can be written by the uploader, but more often platforms offer smart 'automatically generated' text when importing images.
