Alt Text (2021, ongoing)
Digital screen grabs, various sizes
Work in progress
Alt text is an essential principle of web accessibility. Alt text (alternative text) describes the appearance or function of an image on a page. It is read aloud by screen readers, used by visually impaired users, and will be displayed in place of an image if it fails to load. It’s best format is that which is sufficiently accurate and descriptive. It can be manually typed and edited and should be added to all web based images wherever possible.
In Microsoft Word, Alt text is automatically generated for you when you import an image.
This is a collection of screen grabs that shows what happens when the AI, or Microsoft 365 Intelligent Services, are not so intelligent.
